ER stress and autophagy in the goblet cells. Mucin misfolding in the endoplasmic reticulum will lead to the ER stress in goblet cells.ER stress will further lead to inflammatory bowel disease including Crohn’s disease. Autophagy, a cell biological process is a solution to this situation. During autophagy, endosome wrap misfolded mucin up and fuse with lysosome, which formed autophagosome. After the lysis process, the misfolded mucin was vanished in the autophagosome
