DCA modulates cholesterol biosynthetic pathway and increases the generation of endogenous RORγt agonists, involving zymosterol and desmosterol, leading to the recruitment of coactivators and transcriptional activation of RORγt target genes, including IL17, therefore promoting inflammation and tissue injury
