  3. All healthy controls (HCs) (n = 116) must exclude drinking history. ALD patients include alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFL) (n = 4), alcoholic cirrhosis (n = 48). Non-pathological alcohol drinker controls include binge drinkers (n = 34) and heavy drinkers without overt clinical evidence of liver disease (HDC) (n = 11). Patients with chronic HBV infection (n = 7) and mixed cirrhosis (n=33) were HBV DNA-negative.
