From: Apatinib induces endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated apoptosis and autophagy and potentiates cell sensitivity to paclitaxel via the IRE-1α–AKT–mTOR pathway in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Fig. 4

Apatinib affected autophagy and apoptosis via the IRE-1α–AKT–mTOR pathway. ag ECA-109 and KYSE-150 cells were treated with 25 μM apatinib or DMSO for 24 h after transfection with control siRNA or IRE-1α siRNA. The expression levels of related genes were measured by western blotting. ho Cells were treated with apatinib (25 μM) with or without SC79 (4 μg/ml). The expression levels of related genes were measured by western blotting (hl). The number of apoptotic cells was determined by Annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide (PI) staining (mo). pu Cells were treated with apatinib (25 μM) with or without rapamycin (1 nM). The expression levels of related genes were measured by western blotting (pr). The number of apoptotic cells was assessed by Annexin V-FITC and propidium iodide (PI) staining (s-u). * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001 compared with control group. # p < 0.05, ## p < 0.01, ### p < 0.001
