From: Identification of atypical mitogen-activated protein kinase MAPK4 as a novel regulator in acute lung injury

Fig. 2

MAPK4 deficiency reduces the production of inflammatory cytokines and alters the composition of immune cells in ALI. WT C57BL/6 mice (n = 5–6) and MAPK4−/− mice (n = 5–6) mice were administered with i.p. 10 mg/kg LPS, 24 h, respectively. a The mRNA levels of IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, TGF-β, IL-4 and IL-10 in lung tissues were detected by Real-time PCR assay. b–g The protein levels of IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, TGF-β, IL-4 and IL-10 in BALF were detected by ELISA assay. h Bronchoalveolar total cell counts were counted. i The proportions of Gr-1+ neutrophils were analyzed by FCM and the absolute numbers of these cells were calculated, respectively. j The proportions of F4/80+ Mφ and γδ+ T cells were analyzed by FCM and the absolute numbers of these cells were calculated, respectively. k The proportions of CD4+ T and CD8+ T cells were analyzed by FCM and the absolute numbers of these cells were calculated, respectively. Data were presented as the mean ± SEM. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01
