The elements important in HIV binding and structure (PA12 binding site and 2D7 binding site, and sites of tyrosine sulfonation and G-protein linkage) are highlighted. The CCR5-Δ32 deletion site is denoted with a triangle and found just before the 2D7 binding site. Mutation at this site results in a premature stop codon, and thus the deletion of all protein structures after this location, resulting in the loss of the 2D7 binding site and a cytosolic CCR5
