IL-33 enhances the autophagy of macrophages. Bone marrow-derived macrophages were prepared as described in materials and methods. These cells were incubated with different concentrations (100 ng/ml, 50 ng/ml, 25 ng/ml, and 5 ng/ml) of IL-33 for 24 h. Thereafter, the proteins were extracted from these cells and subjected to P62, LC3 and β-actin western blotting to evaluate the autophagy-enhancing effects by IL-33 (a). LC3 immunoblots were conducted to evaluate the autophagy induced by IL-33, chloroquine (CQ), and IL-33 + chloroquine (CQ) (b). The experiments were repeated three times. *p ≤ 0.05, **p ≤ 0.01
