Food intake analysis indicates CD1 mice and C57BL/6 mice exhibit similar amount of cuprizone diet intake per body weight. Although CD1 mice on average exhibit higher body weight compared to C57BL/6 mice (a), they also consume more cuprizone containing diet (b), as a result, the two strains exhibit similar amount of cuprizone diet intake in terms of grams per body weight (c) (No significant differences were seen between groups). Mice were housed in 3–5 animals per cage, and total food intake of individual cages were measured and divided by the number of animals in each individual cage to obtain the average food intake per mouse (b), or divided by the total body weight of animals in the cage to obtain the average food intake per body weight (c). All values are averaged across 4 consecutive weeks of control diet/cuprizone diet treatment. For a, N = 10, 11, 13, 11 respectively.
