A revolution model of DNA translocation by hexameric FtsK. FtsK may employ a revolution mechanism to transport DNA without rotation. The hinged movement between α and β domains of PaFtsKC ensures a continuous translocation of DNA through the hexameric FtsKC ring, by which the α domain translocates the DNA backbone, and then releases as the β domain binds and moves the helix within the same patch.
